About The Event
10 people max. Mostly outdoor.
It’s finally time to camp and create in the woods! Come back from COVID and learn Raku basics from Joe Robinson at East Creek. Raku is a Japanese technique where pieces are quickly heated to 1800F in a small kiln, pulled red hot from the kiln, and placed in combustables. It's an exciting process that can yeild a variety of metalic and natural surfaces. You’ll be provided with 2 pre-made pots to fire (or bring your own bisque, includes 1 cubic foot). We’ll fire traditional Raku on Friday night while we also make wood fired pizza, then we’ll fire horsehair raku and foil saggar on Saturday. Bring your own pizza toppings- dough and sauce will be provided in a COVID-concious way. Camp free, or rent a tiny cabin for an extra fee. Come to the studio for Two-Day-Tuesdays to make your work, if you need studio space and bisquing.
