Solstice Soda Firing, Celebration, and Studio Making

SOLSTICE 2 Day Making Retreat and Soda Firing with Joe Robinson

NEW Pay What You Want: This community oriented workshop includes 1 cubic foot in our gas soda kiln, 2 days of studio making time, and 1 bag of clay, and bisque. If you're doing well, please consider paying our suggested amount of $225 or more to support other artists who can only pay the minimum. 

Join Joe Robinson and Aubrey Sloan for two days of community firing, wheel throwing, and handbuilding at East Creek’s beautiful indoor/outdoor studio space. Joe will share 20 years of experience and East Creek’s considerable studio tool suite. 

Arrive on June 21 with 1 cubic foot of work to soda fire in our cross draft gas soda kiln.  We'll load the kiln on Wednesday and fire Wed-Thurs. While the kiln is firing, take advantage of the East Creek studio and 25 lbs of included clay to throw or handbuild. On the night of the solstice, we'll enjoy a shared campfire and celebration. We'll shut down the soda kiln on Thursday 6/22 and we will agree on an unloading time, most likely on Sunday, June 25. You are welcome to attend the unloading, or to return to East Creek later in the summer to pick up your finished work.

-25 lbs of clay (additional clay avaible for purchase for $15.00 per bag, feel free to bring any clay you would like to use as well) 

-2 cubic foot of bisque included

-1 cubic foot in gas-soda kiln (bring your bisque!)
