About the event

Loading/Firing: May 31-June 2, 2024 (Fri-Sun),

Loading starts at: 10:00am (please arrive between 9:00-9:30)

Unloading: Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 am

Join us at East Creek Art for Queer Cat 2024 a hot and glassy firing of the ChickenCat kiln.

** This link is for returning Queer Cat 2023 participants ONLY. Please do not share this link. We have set aside space for new crew members and workshop participants which will be promoted publicly. If you know some who is interested in joining the 2024 crew, please send inquiries to queer.cat.firing@gmail.com

There is enough space for every 2023 participant to return. Quantities for returning crew are small; both to make this possible, and to allow space for new participants. The Queer Cat firing is a community experience, centering education and access to wood-firing for those who don’t have it. If you have regular access to wood-fire, please consider taking up less kiln space in this firing.

NOTE: Please only sign up for one slot per person! Signing up for multiple spots takes a spot away from someone else.

Registration will be open until the crew space is full.

There will be 3 options for crew space:

3-4 small pieces

1/2 cf

1cf

*Each participant should plan on attending the loading, at least one day of the firing, and the unloading.

If you can plan to be around for the duration of the firing there will be community activities, volunteer opportunities, shared food, and great community building all weekend long!

All pieces must be bisque fired; shino glaze and all wadding is provided.

If you'd like to bring your own cone 10 glazes that's acceptable; if you want to place those glazes on the outside of your work, please create a ceramic "coaster" for each piece to catch any glaze that runs off. The coaster should have raised edges capable of capturing running glaze. That could be a quick and dirty pinched thing, or tiny plates! If you only use your outside glaze as a liner, no coasters are required.

Accommodations:

-Camping at East Creek is available and free for all participants

-Other accommodation options will be included in future emails

-Local accommodations are available in Willamina and surrounding areas
