March '24 Spring Break Gas Soda Firing

Loading/Firing: March 25-26, 2024 (Mon-Tue), 

Loading starts at: 12:00 noon.

Unloading: Friday, March 29 at 12:00 noon.

Join for our first-ever crew firing of the East Creek gas-soda kiln! We've got the kiln dialed in and we're ready to share. 

This supported firing is for 10 people, including 5 full participants with 2 cubic feet os pace each, and 5 one-pot participants. Perfect for someone who wants to try soda firing for the first time!

It includes Monday night wood fired pizza at the end of loading. Dough and sauce are provided, bring your own favorite cheese and toppings!

This whole firing (load, fire, unload) takes place within spring break week. 

All soda fired work must be wadded before it's loaded into the kiln. Glaze is optional but reccomended on the inside of functional pieces (this is called "liner glaze"). All necessary wadding and glaze are provided. 

If you'd like to bring your own cone 10 clazes that's acceptable; if you want to place those glazes on the outside of your work, please create a ceramic "coaster" for each piece to catch any glaze that runs off. The coaster should have raised edges capable of capturing running glaze. That could be a quick and dirty pinched thing, or tiny plates! If you only use your outside glaze as a liner, no coasters are required. 

Most cone 10 clays will work great. We reccomend: Laguna B-mix, Georgies Unpqua White, Rogue River Buff, or Three Finger Jack. Yes, RRB is a ^6 clay but it works beautifully. 

*Each participant should plan on participating in the shared work of firing, including loading, unloading, and grinding shelves. 

NOTE: Please only sign up for one slot per person! Signing up for multiple spots (ie selecting 2, 2 cubic foot tickets rather than one, 4 cubic foot ticket) takes a spot away from someone else.
