Join Joe Robinson at East Creek for a Holiday pit firing in our historic groundhog pit kiln. Any bisqued clay at any bisque temperature can be pit fired. Grittier clays are less likely to crack; smooth clays often produce a brighter surface. Our favorite clay mix is Pipenburg Raku, bisqued to cone 06-04.

Bring 6-10 small/medium bisque (under 6 inches) OR 2-4 large bisque pieces to pit fire with included materials or buy hand thrown bisque for $20/piece. Please pre-order pieces to ensure availability; extras may be avaliable on site. If you would like to fire more than 10 pieces of your own work, please send an email and we can accomodate (additional pieces will be $10 each)

Pit firing materials will be included and available for firing. 

After the loading and lighting, camp for free on the beautiful East Creek property, or book one of the tiny cabins or a bed in the bunkhouse. Camping is optional. The firing will burn down overnight and the pieces will not be available until Sunday morning at 10:00a. Delivery to Morning Ceramics for their holiday show, sale, and raku event is available on December 16.
