Beginning Wood Firing: Spring 2024

Firing: 

Loading/Firing: June 14-16, 2024 (Fri-Sun), 

Unloading: Saturday, June 22 at 11:00a.

Join Joe Robinson for beginning wood firing! This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of wood firing and how to achieve desired effects. The workshop will start with an instruction day in Portland, followed up by a firing in June.

We'll start by meeting for a full day in April, at the Oregon Potters Association Showcase at the Oregon Convention Center. Showcase is the permier annual gathering/show/sale of potters in Oregon and arguable the entire West. There, we'll look at works by dozens of professional artists, and meet directly with East Creek artists who will speak to their work in person.  We'll look at these various works in person to see what's possible in the morning. Then, we'll have lunch together before an afternooon instructional session in which we will talk logistics, materials, and you'll receive a written instruction packet to take home. 

Finally, we'll reconvene at East Creek in June for a firing of our catenary wood-soda kiln.
