Join Joe Robinson, hosted by Seaspell Fiber Studio and Gearhart local artists Britt Boles and AJ Wahl for a night of Raku and Pit Firing at the coast!

We'll start off at Seaspell Fiber Studio on A St. in Gearhart to prep pots and do gas-powered raku. We'll conclude our time at the studio with a hearty (and optional) NW Cioppino, a seafood based soup with a variety of local seafood. Then, we'll head over to the vehicle access beach for a large pit firing.

Bring your own bisque fired artworks OR purchase pre-made, hand thrown pieces to paint and fire for professional looking results in as little as an hour with no experience needed.   With your registration, bring up to 2 pieces with 6" max dimension in any direction for raku plus 2 more for pit firing. Extra space is available.

Everything you need- glaze, horsehair, materials, firing supplies, etc, is provided. If you don't have pieces ready to fire, you can show up empty handed, purchase pre-made pots, and leave with finished pieces! Pre-made pieces are $20/each and though there will be pieces available for purchase the day of, it's best to pre-order to ensure availability.

During the Event

We'll have kombucha taps flowing and at 6:30, a big pot of NW Cioppino (tomato based seafood soup) and bread for your optional enjoyment. You can purchase food and drink at the event- though the cioppino will likely sell out so your pre-order is encouraged.

As we finish dinner and raku firing, we'll move to the vehicle access beach that's about 1/2 mile from the studio to do the pit firing with pots we've already prepared at the studio. Bonfire vibes will abound, and bringing s'mores ingredients is highly recommended. You are welcome to invite your friends to the bonfire at no extra charge. All pot prep will happen at the studio earlier in the evening.

The next day, Friday October 14 at 10:00am, we'll unload the beach pit firing to examine our treasures. If you can't make it, no worries, you can pick your finished work up on Saturday or Sunday at Seaspell Fiber Studio.

-Raku Firing of 2 pieces 6" or less in any direction

-Pit Firing of 2 more pieces

-All glaze and materials for raku and pit firing

-All instruction- no experience required

-NW Cioppino meal ($15/person)
