Advanced Raku: 2 Days

Advanced Raku Workshop with Joe Robinson 

10 people max. Indoor/Outdoor. Advanced focused.

Saturday, July 24 10:00a- Sunday July 25 5:00p.

-5 test tiles

-2 personal raku firings

Join Joe Robinson for two days of advanced raku at East Creek’s beautiful indoor/outdoor studio space. Learn about and try your hand at various raku techniques including reduced and un-reduced raku, utilizing underglazes, horsehair raku, foil saggar firing in the raku kiln, and raku kiln building and setup. We'll build a small raku kiln during the workshop and have a drawing for one student to take the kiln home at the end of the weekend!

Schedule: 

Saturday: 

-10:00a arrival, orientation and setup (or, come on Friday for NIGHT RAKU and stay for the advanced workshop)

-moring lecture, glazing demos, and kiln building afternoon work time, evening firing, campfire

Sunday: 

-breakfast on your own (use our outdoor kitchen)

-morning firing

-afternoon personal coaching, questions, and wrap up.

Optional: 

-Tiny Cabin stay

-bunkhouse bed stay

-Arrive on Friday night to participate in NIGHT RAKU ($50)

-Stay on Sunday night and extend your unguided work time into Monday. You can decide this on Sunday. Email joe@eastcreekart.org if you'd like to reserve cabin space.
